Lesson 1 - Guitar Types

Okay in my first lesson I am going to cover the basic types of a Guitar.

There are different types of guitars available, I will briefly cover some of the main types that I will be discussing throughout my lessons:

Acoustic Guitars
I will be covering the following acoustic guitars:

Steel Strings Guitar: Most of my lessons will use the standard 6 strings acoustic guitar as this is the most common form of guitars available.

Classical Nylon Strings Guitar: This may also be referred to as a Spanish guitar, which is composed of nylon strings instead of steel strings. They are more easy to play as the width of the neck is much wider and the strings are more flexible and easy for beginners specially. I will explain in my upcoming lectures about the parts of a guitar, so for now don't worry about the "neck".

Electro Acoustic Guitars: They are basically the same as the two types discussed above, the only difference is that they come equipped with a built in pre-amp with tone controls (don't scratch your head, its not important at the moment)

Electric Guitars:
I will briefly cover electric guitars for now.

There are numerous types of electric guitars available, the basic working of an electric guitar is by the use of electromagnetic induction (just for your information, I bet most of the guitarists don't know that)

I will be discussing electric guitars later if need arises.

Besides the few types discussed above, there are some special guitars as well such as a 12 strings guitar which has great outdoor sound, then there are dual neck guitars and many more. I will bring them up somewhere within the lessons if need arises. Otherwise I will do a new series on them once we are done with this one :)

Well that's pretty much it for now.
In lesson 2, I will guide you on buying your first guitar.

Please do leave a comment, I will be more than happy to reply and please follow my blog regularly.

Introduction

So you've decided to become a guitarist? Well personally I think that everyone should possess some sort of musical skills as it is a great way to open up and exercise your mind. I am going to compile a series of lessons which will help you (aspiring guitarists specially) become proper guitarists.

My lessons will cover areas that most online lessons lack, I will be writing about guitars for all kinds of people i.e. people with short hands or short and thick fingers. I was so disheartened when I was unable to play properly and all I could blame were my thick fingers. But don't worry, I will show you techniques to overcome these minor set backs. There are numerous exercises to strengthen your fingers, and practicing daily will give your skin a coating which will eliminate most of the fingers related problems.

The lessons will also cover purchasing guitar accessories for beginners, and also guide you to purchase the proper guitar at every stage of your progress, the things to keep in mind when purchasing a guitar etc. Besides that I will be covering the basic theory which will help you understand your guitar.

I hope our upcoming endeavor helps all of you in achieving your goals.
Remember one thing, PRACTICE PRACTICE and PRACTICE, this is the only way to improve.

Please follow this blog as I will be posting lessons regularly.
